Choosing A MLM Company For Long-Term Success

Choosing a MLM (multi-level-marketing) company can seem like a daunting task. There are hundreds of network marketing opportunities are out there just dying to have you sign up as their newest and greatest distributor.

By taking into consideration the different aspects of a particular MLM company you will be able to make an informed decision on a network marketing opportunity that is best for you.

Too many people choose a MLM company solely based on the fact that their Great-Aunt Helga or Joe Schmuckatelli down the street gave them a 5 min. business opportunity presentation.

Unfortunately, this is actually how I got into the business...

I was at work when a coworker of mine came into my office and was all excited about this new opportunity her daughter-in-law had just told her about. Seeing her enthusiasm, I of course asked her what it was about. She gave me vague details about the products and company, but just enough to pique my interest. That evening I pulled up the company's website...read a little...and decided to join. My coworker had not yet become a distributor so I didn't sponsor under her. Instead I chose my sponsor from a list of names of people in my area provided by the website.

What were my criteria for choosing a MLM and my sponsor??

Actually, I chose my sponsor based on the fact that this person had incorporated their business.

Yup, that's right, I chose my sponsor because they sounded "professional"... I knew nothing about this person, whether or not they would be a good fit for me, or their background. Heck, the first time I spoke to my sponsor was AFTER I had already joined the company.

Fortunately, I love the company and its products and am still with them today. My sponsor on the other hand is a long and complicated story.

The point I am trying to make is I got caught up in the hype and chose the company and my sponsor based on emotions conjured up by what a coworker had told me. There was no logic behind my reasoning.

I got lucky!

There are many out there who do the same thing, and are not so lucky. They love the business of network marketing, but are unhappy with the MLM company, its products, the compensation plan, or their sponsor. I am often asked, "What is the best MLM company?" Or, "What is the most important thing to look at when choosing a mlm?"

The first question is purely a matter of opinion...everyone thinks their network marketing opportunity is the best, or they wouldn't be there.

The second question, on the other hand, is much easier to answer...

When choosing a MLM there is much debate over what is most important to the success of your business. Many will tell you the compensation plan, or how you will be paid, is key. Some prefer to look at the history and stability of the company. While others will teach you that the products should be your main focus.
